What I´m working at

I think I am a bit kitschy at heart.

I have to add something here... tee hee! Did anyone recognize my cookie-eating racoon suffers from some kind of genetic disorder? Look at his hands!!! I thought about secretly correcting my mistake, but then again...no. This is the first time something like this has happened to me and I actually think it´s funny in a way...

Grrrmph !!!!

I am having a grumpy day.

Cookie-eating Racoon

Ever since I have been watching the racoons at the camp site a few weeks ago, I can´t resist sketching them. By the way, does anybody know how the teeth of a racoon look like? I would love to make a picture of this guy actually biting into the cookie to make him come alive a bit(e). Looks more like he his sniffing at the cookie! He also seems a bit stiff and too serious. I do like him though. By the way, did you ever lie in your tent, trying to fall asleep while some racoon is sniffing all around your tent? It was a bit scary...

Nearly Finished!

The sock monkey is close to being finished. I went out and got some new filling and now everything is sewn to its place, except for the eyes. I will do that tomorrow. When I look at the picture I posted earlier today, I think the critter looks more like a tasmanian devil than like a monkey, hee, hee. But as you will see tomorrow, the sock monkey changed into a real chimp now. Need to create some clothes for the girl... and find a name for her. Maybe I should call her Tasmania?

The Birth of a Sock Monkey

I need more stuffing! And I think I will change to a darker filling, because the white one shines through (take a look at the legs!). I´m not sure about the eyes yet. These are stick-on and I think they will come off too easily. I used these only for demonstration purposes! The same with the mouth. I think I will embroider it on with some dark yarn.

Deep Blue

(please click on picture for a larger version)

I just glued this three-piece painting to a strip I cut out of a sheet protector, so now I can hang it up on our bathroom door. I got inspired to paint it by a deco-tip from Bine Braendle, who made a huge painting of fishes on a garage door. You can find her tips in a pdf file here.

Antifreeze

I guess I do like them. They are really comfy and will prevent my feet from freezing whenever I have to sit at my desk for too long, studying. And they are not too warm either, because the yarn is a cotton mix. Ideal for the cooler days of summer.

More projects

I caught a cold and didn´t feel well. So I spent yesterday afternoon in front of the television, watching the Tour de France and finishing off these funky socks made from Regia Nation Color N°5399.

I also finished the first of this pair of socks and began with the second one. I had started this pair while on my camping trip a few weeks ago and I still haven´t figured out wether I like them or not. They are made of Regia top color moda N°4075. By now, you might have recognized that I have a starting problem... I love starting new projects before I´m anywhere near finishing the old one(s), he, he. So no wonder I feel overwhelmed a lot of times. There are even more unfinished projects. I will show you the next days, as some are close to being finished.

Some of my current projects

May I present you: The one and only Marshmallow Bunny! She is still in need of having her various body parts sewn together, not to forget getting a "real" face with a little help of embroidery yarn. She will be a present to a good friend´s baby girl when she is done. I made her from a pattern book for knitted toys by Sharon Welch which I borrowed at the library. I´m sorry, but I don´t know the English title. It must be either this one or that one. The German title is: "Schmusesachen selbst gestrickt".

These are some socks for Loobylu´s Sock Monkey Project (take a look here), I intend to participate in.

Illustration Friday: Tranquility

This is something I did a year ago for my birthday invitation, although I never finished it... Now, doesn´t she seem to be living her life in tranquility?

First Picture!

It took me a while, but I finally got a digital camera! I´m so happy! Now I can really start posting! This is a picture a friend of mine took when we were camping the first week of july! Isn´t it cute? This was one of the two baby racoons who lived with their momma in this tree on the camp site we stayed at. Some guy tried to feed it with cookies using an umbrella as an elevator...
